Boys & Girls Clubs of Cumberland County teen members visited the local Planet Fitness in Millville (Vineland Planet Fitness has recently opened) and had a great time touring the fitness areas and took part in an exercise session.

BGCA is excited to be partnered with Planet Fitness to support bullying prevention efforts in Clubs across the country. Together with Planet Fitness, Clubs are working to create the first-ever Judgement Free Generation — a pro-kindness, anti-bullying movement, aimed at empowering a culture of kindness and encouragement among teens.

As home to the Judgement Free Zone®, a non-intimidating fitness environment designed to make everyone feel accepted and like they belong, Planet Fitness is committed to helping tackle the issue of bullying.

BGCA has recently released the Positive Club Climate Teen Project Guide to guide all teens through assessing the culture in their Club and designing a project to create a positive, inclusive club environment for all Clubs.

The Club holds a Fine Arts session several times a month to encourage Club kids to be creative. This year's theme is Environmental Art which is supported by the Cumberland County Cultural & Heritage Commission. The sessions are led by art teacher Gina Martucci.

Members of the Boys & Girls Clubs recently took part in Lights On After school events to promote the importance of after school programs for young people. Lights On After School is a project of the After school Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that all children have access to quality, affordable after school programs. Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has served as Chair of Lights On After School since 2001. Club members from the Carl Arthur Center are shown here with their light bulb projects, which indicate why they like the after school programs at the Boys & Girls Club.
